Q: What types of animals am I allowed to have and how many?

A: Dog, rabbit, cat, chicken (hens only), ferret, pot-bellied pig (one)

Q: What registration is required and why?

All dogs, cats, and ferrets must have a current rabies vaccination, and must be registered through the City of Lewisville. All animals must wear the rabies and registration tags at all times. The city registration tag allows staff immediate access to owners information should the animal be collected by Animal Services and expedite the process.

Q: How much does it cost to register an animal?

* Sterilization (spayed or neutered animals: $7 per year
* Non-sterilized animals: $30 per year
* Replacement tags: $1 per tag
* Registration must be purchased for on or three years depending on the expiration or duration of the animals rabies vaccination.

Q: How do I register an animal?

Q: How do I report an animal issue?

A: For issues such as loose animal, stray animal, wild animal, deceased animal in the streets/neighborhood, animal cruelty, or excessive animals call the shelter at 972.219.3478 during normal business hours. An email can also be sent to lewisvillepets@gmail.com.

A: For injured or orphaned wildlife, contact Animal Now at ahnow.org. While Lewisville shelter staff will respond to injured or orphaned wildlife calls, the shelter is not a licensed rehab facility and are unable to care for injured or orphaned wildlife. Staff will work to find a rehab facility.

Citizens University

Citizens University is an 11-session class that allows residents the opportunity to learn how City government works, one department at a time. It encourages residents to become involved in the City's government and enhance their ability to communicate effectively with City officials. Boards and Commissions shape the future of development in the city and make decisions on future Public Art pieces, changes at the Library, creation and upkeep of city parks, and so much more. With annexation complete, Castle Hills residents are now eligible to serve on all ten Lewisville Boards / Commissions/ Committees.

Lewisville Grand Theater is devoted to celebrating local artists as well as bringing in talent from throughout Texas and across the U.S. for the betterment and entertainment of the community. The building itself is a testament to that goal with its state-of-the-art performance hall, spacious black box theater, dance recital hall, beautiful art gallery, and versatile classroom spaces. Since its opening in 2011, The Grand has served as Southern Denton County's home for the visual and performing arts as well as a sought-after location for hosting a variety of educational, corporate, and social events.

The Grand offers live music and performances, two gallery spaces with over 15 exhibitions annually, a 296-seat proscenium performance hall, classes and rental space.

The Building Services Division manages and coordinates the plan review, permitting and inspection of private construction projects in accordance with the City of Lewisville ordinances and adopted Building Codes. If you are considering remodeling your home or business, be sure you or your contractor applies for a building permit from the City of Lewisville first.

New construction, underground pool, driveways, carports/covers/patios, accessory buildings (larger than 120 sq. feet), window replacement, roof replacement, HVAC mechanical work, plumbing (water heater repairs, gas line repairs), electrical work, foundation repairs, fence, solar panels, irrigation, structural alternatives, exterior siding, retaining walls (larger than 48") and decks (larger than 30")

The City is in partnership with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). Through this partnership, residents can sign up for service plans to protect against the high cost of emergency repairs to their exterior water and sewer service lines, as well as interior pluming and drainage systems.

Q: Who do I call for issues with my utility service?

A: Castle Hills residents and business will continue to contact Denton County FWSD 1-A for issues with utility service. For service and billing inquiries, contact the District by phone at 972.899.4000 or via email at customerservice@dentoncountyfwsd.com. To make a payment to the Denton County FWSD 1-A visit payments.dentoncountyfwsd.com.

A: After annexation: For water billing inquiries, please contact Customer Service by phone at 972.219.3440 or via email at ub@cityoflewisville.com.

A: For water line problems, the city maintains the main and service water line to the meter. Trouble in the line between the meter and the house is the responsibility of the customer. For service inquiries, contact the City at 972.219.3510.

A: There is no change in calls for service for refuse collection and disposal. Castle Hills residents will continue to have this handled by CWD. For service inquiries or to report a problem please call 972.392.9300. After November 15, service-related calls can also be directed to the City of Lewisville at 972.219.3510.
