The Building Services Division manages and coordinates the plan review, permitting and inspection of private construction projects in accordance with the City of Lewisville ordinances and adopted Building Codes. If you are considering remodeling your home or business, be sure you or your contractor applies for a building permit from the City of Lewisville first.

The City of Lewisville has launched MyGovernmentOnline for all permitting and inspection requests. To apply for a building permit or to register as a contractor, please visit MyGovernmentOnline to create an account and submit an application.

• Communication & Status Updates:
  While your application is being reviewed, you can login to your MyGovernmentOnline account at any time to check the status of your application. If more information is needed, an email will be sent to you requesting your attention to the item.

• Revisions:
  If your submitted plans need to be revised, an electronic copy of your mark-ups will be sent to your MyGovernmentOnline account. Once revised, simply upload the new plans to your project file.
• Approval & Payment:
  Once your application has been approved, you will receive an invoice for any applicable fees. All payments are made through your MyGovernmentOnline account. After submitting payment, an electronic copy of the permit or approval certificate will be available for immediate download.

Castle Hills

Notice of Private Development Standards in Castle Hills

Beginning November 1, 2021, the City of Lewisville will begin accepting building permit applications for new projects in Castle Hills that require a plan review.  These include:

• New commercial & multi-family buildings
• Commercial alterations, finish-outs, and additions
• New residential homes including single-family, duplexes, and townhomes
• Residential additions & remodels
• Swimming pools & spas
• Signs
• Fences, retaining walls, and screening walls
• Solar Panels
• Patio covers & carports

These applications are to be submitted through the MyGovernmentOnline portal as described above. The applications will be reviewed as they are submitted, and once approved, the permit will be ready to be issued after annexation occurs on November 15, 2021. Permits fees will not be invoiced until November 14, 2021.

For projects that do not require a plan review, the Denton County Fresh Water District will continue to accept those applications through November 12, 2021.  These include plumbing & electrical repairs, water heater replacements, HVAC changeouts, reroofs, window & door replacements, and other minor repair work.

Once annexation of Castle Hills is effective on November 15, 2021, the City of Lewisville will assume all permitting and inspection services for all projects, including projects that were started prior to annexation.  The City of Lewisville will attempt to contact all current permit holders prior to annexation to discuss the transition, but please continue to monitor this web page for additional information.  Any questions regarding building projects that will be affected by the annexation can be directed to Jeremy Booker, Building Official, at jbooker@cityoflewisville.com.
