School Resource Officers

The City of Lewisville and the Lewisville Independent School District work in partnership daily to provide a School Resource Officer to all middle school or high school aged children. School Resource Officers, or SROs, are funded by grants to provide education and prevention on topics such as alcohol and drug abuse, gangs, and conflict resolution.

What does a School Resource Officer do?

School Resource Officers are specially trained police officers designed to serve as a positive role model for students, and provide assistance to school administration. School Resource Officers are assigned full-time to all high school campuses and two officers are assigned to all five middle schools in the City of Lewisville. The officers provide full police service to their respective campus and build a relationship with students in order to improve relations between youth and police.

With all the reported incidents of violence on school campuses, can you guarantee my child’s safety while at school where a SRO is present?

No police department can fully guarantee the safety of all its citizens. The aim of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program is to help students help themselves through personal safety awareness. In addition, each school campus works with police when developing their school safety plan. The plan includes prevention techniques designed to avoid serious incidents and training for teachers and police on dealing with critical incidents should one occur.

Current School Resource Officers

Parents and students are encouraged to connect with their School Resource Officers.  Their contact information is provided below.  The SROs may not be available outside of school hours and during holiday breaks.

TIP411 for the High Schools

In 2015, the Lewisville Police Department launched Tip411, a system that allows citizens to text crime tip information anonymously from their text capable devices (using the TipLPD Keyword). In 2015, LPD also introduced three new school specific Tip411 keywords for use in the three high school campuses located in the city of Lewisville. These keywords will route directly to our School Resource Officers and offer students a way to report suspected campus related criminal activity anonymously by texting the keyword and your tip information to 847411. The three keywords are:

LEWISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL = LHSTIP

LEWISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HARMON = HHSTIP
LEWISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL KILLOUGH = KHSTIP

Tip411 is not a substitute for 911 and does not generate an immediate police response. It should not be used to report crimes in progress or any incident that may require police response for handling. Please call 911 for emergencies or 972.219.3640 for non-emergency incidents requiring police response. Please visit our 'Submit A Crime Tip' page for more information about Tip411 and submitting crime tips.
