Lewisville SOLARbration

Sky-gazers invited to Lewisville SOLARbration to experience total solar eclipse

Sky-gazers from all around are invited to the Lewisville SOLARbration event to experience the out-of-this-world total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, noon-2 p.m., at Wayne Ferguson Plaza, 150 W. Church Street.

Lewisville is in the “path of totality” for the solar eclipse, which means attendees will see the sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, which normally is obscured by the bright face of the sun.

Attendees at this free, family-friendly event will enjoy an eclipse-worthy concert, featuring Legacy House Band and Texas Floyd – A Tribute to Pink Floyd, fun and games from Play Lewisville On Wheels, and food choices from several local restaurants. Solar eclipse glasses will be provided, and there will be promotional giveaways.

Out-of-town and out-of-state attendees are encouraged to book a hotel room now in Lewisville for this epic event. Go to the “Hotels” page at visitlewisville.com page to see the hotel choices.

Free event parking will be available at Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church Street; Visitor Information Center, 247 W. Main Street; Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street; and on-street parking.

This will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the United States until 2044. At the height of the total eclipse, the sky will darken as it would at dawn or dusk, and there will be about 3-4 minutes where the moon’s shadow will fully block the sun.

The award-winning Wayne Ferguson Plaza is a 1.5-acre urban park that takes on a contemporary sweeping gesture using water to link east to west and united Lewisville City Hall and Lewisville Grand Theater. It features an elevated stage, a multi-level seating area, an interactive splash pad and a garden filled with swathes of native grasses and wildflowers.

To reach the concert site from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Charles streets, or at Lewisville City Hall.

Lewisville SOLARbration supports the “Old Town” Big Move in the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. The full plan can be viewed online at cityoflewisville.com/lewisville2025.
