These high levels designate us as an area of "non-attainment" and we must do what we can to reduce local emissions that lead to the formation of ozone. It is recommended that residents and visitors carpool when they can, take mass transit when available, ride their bicycle or walk for short trips instead of using a car.

City of Lewisville Efforts

• The City currently has five electric vehicles (EVs) and one hybrid vehicle as part of the fleet and plans to expand use of alternative fuel vehicles as older fleet vehicles are decommissioned.
• The City has adopted a Clean Fleet Policy as part of membership of the DFW Clean Cities Coalition.
• Idling policies are in place to limit idling of City vehicles (exception: public safety vehicles) and vehicles visiting City facilities.

• The DCTA offers shuttle service around Lewisville and train service to Carrollton and Denton. There are two train stations in Lewisville. You can plan a trip on their website.

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) offers several services to the general public in the Greater Lewisville and Denton area. These services include local bus service in Denton, Highland Village and Lewisville, campus shuttles to the University of North Texas and North Central Texas College and a commuter rail service connecting passengers to Downtown Dallas. Additionally, DCTA offers demand response/paratransit service in Denton, Lewisville and Highland Village and a commuter vanpool service for those living or working in Denton County.  For more information and schedules visit dcta.net.

Monthly passes for the A-train and Access can be purchased at the Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church Street from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
