IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR SEWER SERVICE
Effective March 1, 2013, the City of Lewisville will no longer provide cleaning of residential sewer service lines.If you have a sewer stoppage on or after March 1, 2013, you will need to contact a plumber or other service provider. There are also a number of warranty programs and vendors that provide water and sewer service line warranties. These warranties usually cover maintenance and repair costs on the water and sewer service lines for a small monthly or annual fee. This may be a desirable alternative if you want to ensure against unexpected repair or cleaning costs.
The Utility Line Maintenance (ULM) Division is dedicated primarily to the maintenance and repair of water and sewer mains.

Descriptions of common problems and helpful tips:
- Main Breaks: Water coming up from the cracks in the street or sidewalk can signify a main break and should be reported to Public Services at 972.219.3510 as soon as possible.
- Low Water Pressure: If you are experiencing low water pressure there are a few things that you can check.
- If you have a water filtration system, check to see if the filters are clean.
- If you do not have a filtration system, check the faucet screens to be sure that they are not clogged.
- If the low pressure is only on the hot water, this may indicated a problem with the hot water heater.
- If the low pressure is only in certain areas of the house, this may indicate an internal problem.
- Otherwise, there may be a problem with the pressure from the City line. Contact Public Services at 972.219.3510 and a technician will be dispatched.
- Sanitary Sewer Overflow: The sanitary sewer system collects and transports all of the sewage and industrial wastewater to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. Sanitary sewer overflows (SSO) are unauthorized discharges of untreated or partially treated wastewater from the collection system or its components (such as manholes, lift stations, or cleanouts) before it reaches the Wastewater Treatment Plant. SSO's are potentially harmful to human health, safety, and the environment.
There are many contributing factors and causes of SSO's, such as the overloading of the collection system due to significant Inflow/Infiltration (I/I). Undersized or damaged infrastructure, such as pipes and lift stations, may not be able to keep up with incoming flows due to increased system demand from storm water that infiltrates the collection system. Frequently, the ULM Division must remove items from the collection system that are harmful or do not belong there. The majority of these sewer problems start as improper practices inside homes, apartments, and businesses. Trash, debris, hazardous chemicals, or grease cause line stoppages or damage to the sanitary sewer system. Sewer stoppages often lead to sewer backups into homes and business and that may result in SSO's.
Services Provided by the ULM Division
- The ULM Division performs dead-end line flushing at various locations throughout the City. This procedure is done once per month to ensure customers receive clean, fresh water that is safe to drink and tastes good.
- The ULM Division performs line locates on City owned water and sewer mains and services to avoid damage to the lines during construction.
