The Alphabet Chair

Artist: Sarah Peters

Installed: August 2010

Location: Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main Street

The Alphabet Chair bronze sculpture is a celebration of language, art, and community. Sculptor Sarah Peters designed each letter to have its own individual texture imprinted from nature or objects. For example, “A” is for “Animals,” “B” is for “Buttons,” and “C” is for “Coral.” Children of all ages enjoy sitting in the chair and solving the mystery of each letter’s origins.

The Alphabet Chair
was donated by Friends of the Lewisville Public Library. Individual letters were sponsored by Point Bank, Michael and Rene Garofalo, IBM and Dileep Bayyana, and Yvonne Lambert.
