Migratory Perch

Artist: Peter Hazel

Location: Thrive Nature Park, 1950 S. Valley Parkway

Migratory Perch Migratory Perch is inspired by the multitude of migratory bird species that pass through Lewisville annually. The work, created by artist Peter Hazel, of Peter Hazel Art includes representation of eight species of birds perched on a 12-foot steel tree and a large mosaic base. The mosaic tiles are custom tiles fabricated by the artist to create daisy, leaves and grass patterns on the base of the work.

The community was directly involved in several aspects of this project. An online survey was made available to gather community input on which species should be featured on the project and attendees of the ColorPalooza: A Celebration of Spring held on April 22, 2023 worked with the artist to complete the mosaic base.
