Fighting Farmers Pride

Artist: Jakelyn Lopez

Installed: October 2021

Location: Corner of Main Street and Valley Parkway

This artwork was designed by LISD student Jakelyn Lopez. Lopez has been doing art since a young age. She used the theme of Fighting Farmers Pride by picturing students of many different races participating in many different art and sports activities. She also included hands using American Sign Language (ASL) to spell out the word FARMERS, to represent LISD students and Lewisville residents who use ASL to communicate.

This project was funded by an anonymous donation to the public art program. A scholarship award will also be paid to the student artist upon graduation from high school and enrollment in an institution of higher learning.

The Fighting Farmers Pride Traffic Signal Box project is part of the Public Art Work Plan for 2021.
