Eternal Sustentation

Artist: Jessica Green

Installed: Spring 2022

Location: UNT Research Office, Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, 201 E Jones Street

“Eternal Sustentation” portrays the interconnecting web of flora and fauna that LLELA aims to preserve and restore, while also depicting the diversity of the prairie, forest, and wetland habitats that produce an abundance of wildlife. The concept for my design reflects the UNT research office’s function as the center of all research and restoration activities at LLELA. The imagery depicts the movement of this research through a gear and pulley system that contrasts the roles of technology within nature.

Artist Bio:

Jessica Green is a senior at the University of North Texas and will be graduating in August 2022, with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies and three minors in sculpture, art history, and social sciences. She was born and raised in Carrollton, Texas, and has always had a passion for translating her thoughts and experiences into art. Jessica is primarily fascinated with using digital methods to produce sculptures, paintings, and graphic art. Her work aims to focus on the connections that technology shares with humans and nature.

Jessica is always looking for the next opportunity to create proposals for public sculptures and murals. Her proposal for a light sculpture was selected to be displayed at the Dallas music festival, Lights All Night (2021), with over 40,000 attendees. Jessica is currently designing a public sculpture that will be permanently displayed at Generations Park at Boys Ranch in Bedford, Texas.
