Lewisville Enterprise was the first, and for many years only, newspaper in Lewisville. The newspaper was printed at this site on Poydras Street, while the business office was located n Main Street. The Enterprise published from 1872 until 1962, when it merged into the Lewisville Leader.

1872 - newspaper was started by F.N. Oliver
1920 - Jack Lewis purchased the newspaper from O.L. Hamilton, acting as executor of the estate of Mrs. J.H. Vaughn, for $6,750. [Denton Record-Chronicle, Oct. 30, 1920]
1945 - published weekly every Thursday morning, established in 1892
1945 - Jack Lewis died on March 3, 1945 [Lewisville Enterprise, March 8, 1945]
1945 - Mr. and Mr. W.C. Thurman assume operation of the newspaper
1962 - merged with the Lewisville Leader starting with the Jan. 18 issue
Lewisville Enterprise was the first, and for many years only, newspaper in Lewisville. It’s publishers through the decades included Overton Hamilton and Jack Lewis, who served a Lewisville’s second elected mayor in 1929-1931. The Enterprise published from 1872 until 1962, when it merged into the Lewisville Leader.
Lewisville Leader published its first edition on Thursday, June 16, 1960, as a weekly local paper that also provided Lewisville coverage for the Denton Record-Chronicle. Allen Bogan of Corinth was the first editor/publisher and Mrs. Jane Rankin was the women’s news editor. The newspaper office was on the southeast corner of Church and Poydras streets. It absorbed the Lewisville Enterprise in January 1962.
