The Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is waiving adoption fees for all animals, during the month of August as part of the national Clear the Shelters adoption campaign.

The Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 995 E. Valley Ridge, across from the north entrance to Railroad Park.
Hours of operation:
- Monday: By appointment only
- Tuesday: Noon-7 p.m.
- Wednesday-Friday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Saturday: Noon-5 p.m.
The 2023 Clear The Shelters campaign led to more than 158,000 adoptions – lifting the all-time adoption total past one million – and raised over $575,000. More than 1,400 shelters and rescues representing 49 states and territories, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam – along with 152 NBC and Telemundo stations – participated in last year’s campaign Aug. 1 to 30.
